For the 2021–22 school year only, written agreements must be signed no later than 30 days after the first day of instruction. However, it is important to note that all other Independent Study requirements must be met upon commencement of instruction. For any other school year, written agreements must be signed prior to the commencement of Independent Study.

Independent Study Program 6-12

The Independent Study Program is open to students in grades 6 -12 within the Vallejo City Unified School District who thrive in a virtual learning environment, are independent and self-motivated, and/or need a flexible learning option. The Independent Study Program provides college and career readiness, student goal setting and monitoring, critical thinking, collaboration, and flexibility.

  • Accelerated learning to address any credit deficiency
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

How to Enroll Students in the Independent Study Program

  • Parents will complete an Independent Study Master Agreement form to enroll their child.
  • The Independent Study Master Agreement can be accessed through the district website or at your child’s secondary school.
  • Please complete the Independent Study Master Agreement form.
  • Drop off the completed form at the John Finney High School Complex located at: 1347 Amador Street in Vallejo, or send it via email to swhitson@vcusd.org.
